Printing from a copper etched plate

Started by: admin (1954)

I appreciate "I'm clutching at straws" I'm involved with with other W.B.P.T members(Wigan Building Preservation Trust) In establishing an HERITAGE ROOM at the Queens Hall.Whilst searching through their archives. I came across a copper printing plate showing an image of the Queens Hall soon after it opened in 1907. I would like to take some prints from the plate. Has anyone ever done this ? I know you need a Press and a roller to spread the ink over the plate. It's a process I think is still used today in a lot of Craft making activities.. So I'm hoping someone? maybe can give me some information on how to proceed.

You could do a 'Rub'.

Do they no longer do it at High Schools as I did on a small printing press when at Secondary School, but that was many moons ago!

Owd Codger, problem is all the high schools are closed now for 6 weeks
I'm sure that there must be a couple of members who do craft work involving Lino block printing for making greetings cards?

If you get in touch with me via email I'll go though what I believe to be the process and talk about potential prints without a press. Having said that I'm not an expert but have a background in art!

Oh, this is now a problem as I really don't wish to put my personal email on here.
