Bad Weather ......

Started by: tonker (29799)

..... in France and Spain last week.
On the way down, it rained heavy all the way.
When we emerged from the Vielha tunnel, south side of the Pyrenees, it was hot and sunny. Until Friday it was in the late 30's. Then the sky turned black and it rained very hard and everywhere flooded quickly. The day after it was back to high 30's and dry again.
On the way back, we caught it again in Orleans. It was Bastille Day, 14th July, and a washout. The storm followed us back and ended up here.

Oh my! Forked lightning is so much more dangerous than sheet lightning.

Tonker, how far from the coast are you where your home is? It's hard to imagine Spain having such terrible weather, especially for the tourist places.

I should imagine the ground is baked solid and the rain cannot soak away easily thus causing flooding

Mollie, it's 20 miles or so, 25 minutes drive, but it's mountainous. It's here
Peter, you're right, that's exactly why it floods so quickly.

Thanks, Tonker. So about as far away from Wigan to Southport. Still close enough for such bad weather to hit there as well though, although perhaps not as badly.
