Net curtains
I want to replace my net curtains and wonder the best place Wigan/Leigh area to buy new net curtains from

I haven't used net curtains for many years now and, to be honest, the last place I did buy some was from a charity shop. Try your local ones first. Failing that, do Amazon sell such things? I've no idea where they can now be bought and I haven't seen any hanging from windows for a long time either.
Maybe one of the other ladies on here will be able to help.

Step into 2025 Peter and get blinds, There are all sorts of different patterns, horizonal, vertical, roll up and Tonker is a ' master craftsman' in this field, although he's retired and sold his business, he will still have contacts and good advice,,,, Probably

Tom the nets are for the living room window which is lower than the footpath. The window is wedge shaped approx 9ft long and 4ft drop also side window approx 20" x 4ft drop. I had to curve the curtain rail round the top of the window recess so no room for blinds,I don't like sitting in a goldfish bowl hence the net curtain to stop people looking in during the day

I think maybe indoor markets might be your best bet. Although I don't think Wigan, although it maybe worth a look. I don't remember the last time I bought nets.
I, like many others, prefer blinds.

Peter, both the Range and Dunelm stock lace curtains.

I'm not a lover of blinds as they are dust magnets and they make a home look like a commercial premises office from the exterior. And in winter, they look cold.
I prefer the good old curtains anyday

I was in teh Range last week and I went to the tills and all 4 or 5 of them were closed and the exit door was locked as well, so I made mt way back to there front dest and was told that I had to pay for stuff there now, and I had to go out the way I had come in through the no exit door.
I don't think they will be open much longer.

My gran used to have net curtains. My wife's gran had them too. In fact, everybody's gran used to have them. They must be a 'gran thing'!

Tonker I am a grandad who likes his privacy when sat in my living room that's why I have net curtains up to stop people looking directly into the room.

Do you walk round in the knacky? Like Tomplum does? Why else would you not want anybody to see through your window?

Tonker no I do not walk round in the buffI have said people who walk past a uncovered window will automatically look into a property. I know you don't use public transport were it is the same the passengers look through peoples windows
I only have nets on my living room windows I have blinds/curtains on the rest of my windows. I have before now been eating my meal in the dining room and people have walked past and waved, even though I have vertical blinds at this window.I don't want that in my living room.I don't know how people who live in a house with NO front garden go on with their privacy

I gave up with nets a long while ago as I said, but I don't live on a main road with lots of vehicles going past, so no gawpers. I'm glad you managed to get fixed up Peter.
Momac and I were chatting about the same thing as well a while ago, and she just closes her blinds pretty much all the time although, to my knowledge, no buses go down her road, but that road does get chocker with queuing traffic, especially around 4.30 p.m. and, a window with no covering is a magnet for those sitting waiting for traffic to move. I wouldn't like that either.

Mollie, since our last conversation re blinds, mine literally gave up the ghost and silly me because they were cheaper got a roller blind..but it was a big mistake,I have to have it at half mast so motorists don’t see everything in my living room..one of these days I will get another blind..they can’t be beat for privacy and looks.
