No idea what he was shouting about...

Started by: jathbee (11711)

I was on my way to the Linacre this morning to have an X-ray. I was with a friend. Just after we passed the Queens Hall, there was a so called asylum seeker hanging out of an upstairs flat window, bare chested and shouting at the top of his voice. He was also spitting onto the pavement below. We side stepped as we passed as we didn't fancy being covered in his spittle.

He must have been playing his game for quite some time because as we were on our way back from the Linacre, two police officers were leaving that building, so I assume some one had made a complaint about his behaviour. I have no idea what he was shouting but judging from his spitting antics. I'm glad I didn't.

Perhaps he was a monster shouter, telling the world that monsters were coming for him (namely pedestrians) so he thought spitting at them might make them leave him alone.

Sounds like he was a bit potty, or drunk, or drugged, or all three. Yet another undesirable in our midst, and not just because he was an asylum seeker.

I've heard of what it's like in the Town Centre these days from reading on here, Jathbee, and it sounds like a sad state of affairs, and an embarrassment to the people of Wigan.

I haven't been to Wigan since 2008 so I haven't seen it myself, but I've no reason to disbelieve how disastrous it has now become.

Disastrous is the correct word for it, Mollie. Its becoming unrecognisable as Wigan town center in more ways than one. Only go if I have to, as I did today. Otherwise it's just the bus or train station to visit a safer more inviting town centre.

The only place I go nearest to the Town Centre is also the Linacre but, as I go in my car where I can park on the car park, I don't see the rest and, from what I understand, I wouldn't want to.
