Just the job, Tom, but will you be able to find a quiet beach? That one at Crosby is pretty quiet, and you'll be able to view the pretty cast iron statues by Anthony Gormley if you find the right spot.

You can also run the flag up about 6-00am then stand back and watch it flutter in the wind.Once back garden is finished I will ask Tom to show me how to put photos on here for you

2. So you wouldn't have needed my help then
3. A battery powered vacuum cleaner would be smashing

OC there probably is a queue but a fool and their money are easily parted Same with drinks £1-50 to £1-90 for a small bottle and you can get a large bottle for the same price. I worked for my money and don't part with it easily I shop around were possible or manage bout I am still here and never been desperate for food or drink. I think most families should be like boy scouts and be prepared with cold drinks and sandwiches before paying through the nose when out

Peter: It ceases to amaze me why some people will happily buy a small bottle of pop of £1.90, and then moan about petrol being approx the same price - for a whole litre! Doesn't make any sense.

We did a 25 mile ride down the canal path to Astley and a return on the east lancs road to Golborne, then through the Haydock park grounds to Ashton and in the sunshine was a brilliant day, As I was cycling through a street in Golborne, A carpet fitter saw me and said, " hey up mate, thats a great shirt you're wearing, I thought you was a copper". Its funny because whilst I'm riding people using phones and driving, drop the phone instantly, the shirt works,,,,,

I am back from 6 days on Jersey and I had a nice time and beautiful weather.I had a sail over to Sark were Tom would have been in his element. ONLY tractors and trailers for public transport or horse and cart. If you wanted to get around the Island you either walked or hired an electric bike. All the roads bar one are dirt roads and no street lights. Apart from one street called the Avenue about 200yds long there are no shops or pubs any where else on the island . From the arbour there is a very steep hill climb and you ride up on a trailer towed by a tractor, If you have to pay it is £1-80 each way. Ok to visit but would not like to live there.

There you are Peter. I was going to put up a thread wondering what had happened to you, so good to hear from you again.

So you finally decided on Jersey for your holiday. The way you describe it, it sounds very rustic, and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. You deserved it. Pity you missed the fantastic weather we've had here all week, but at least you were able to get away and have a change of scenery.

Mollie it does not pay to advertise when you are away St Helier is very built up and looks like a thriving area and there is a lot of building going on in the town The main thing on Jersey is Finance and tourism is down in third place (cannot remember the 2nd thing. The harbour is full of superyachts and million pound gin palaces.I went for a ride along the coast on a trailer drawn by a tractor done up a bit like Thomas the tank engine but in white .Jersey itself is very vibrant full of fancy sportscar which are not much good except for show ,The speed limit is 40 mph Sark is the rustic Island weather wise it was very hot and sunny,I even got sun burn on my toes with wearing sandals.

You're right Peter about it not being advisable to advertise being away, but you know what we're like on here if somebody disappears.

Many, many moons ago my brother went to Jersey on holiday and he loved it, but never said much about it. It's probably changed a lot since he went though as this was in the 1960s.

I'm just glad you had a lovely holiday. Where to next? Do you know yet?

I don't know how much it is to fly to Jersey but its £64 return to sail from Jersey to Sark
