Good health.

Not far from me up here in Billinge there is an Indian restaurant...not visited for past 5 years or so..(Indian jack bit I can take or leave). It never ceases to amaze me how many obese...unfit..people visit these premises.....most have a limp..walking stick or wheelchair...and it's not cheap. I'm not a veggie or owt like that....a foo and his money is soon parted.

Indian food isn't particularly fattening though; in fact, it's good for weight loss. It's the portion sizes which makes people fat.
I once saw a documentary about fat children and there was one in particular (in America) that almost had me in tears. The child was four years old and already weighed in at 3½ stones. He was that fat he looked like a mini Sumo wrestler and could hardly walk. Then, they showed his mum giving him lunch which was a double cheeseburger and a massive pile of chips! A meal that I would have struggled over in two days! To me, that's child abuse.
I'm desperately trying to put weight ON but, try as I might, I just can't, so I've no idea how people become obese, except for if they eat junk food in huge proportions, which I rarely eat.

I've never been out for an Indian meal nor do I ever want to. The whole point of making the meal heavily spiced is to disguise the contents,

Ah, but, Tom. If it's done properly, it doesn't disguise the contents of the meat or whatever it's cooked with. It enhances it and, if you've never tried it, then don't knock it.

I don't understand that Mollie, It reminds me of my old chap, I used to love picking his tomatoes off his plants in the greenhouse as a young lad and loved the taste and, he'd say, put salt on Tom and it brings out the flavour, I did't like them with salt on because then, It did't taste like a tomato so. adding stuff does'nt enhance it, It spoils it,
just my opinion Mollie I know, I'm probably then only one in the world that likes lettuce for its taste,

Lettuce? Lettuce pray! I didn't know lettuce tasted of anything.
No, fair play Tom. Not all food suits everybody's taste, but you have to try something to say you don't like it.

Well there you go Mollie, home grown lettuce has a taste but many people mask it with, salad dressing or mayonnaise , Soopermarket lettuce , has no taste, its just a flavourless crispy crunch but, adds to the presentation and the presence of ' good cholesterol' is there to help with heath benefits so. never underestimate the power of the greenery,

A curry can't be that bad when it has been popular with our soldiers since the day's of the Raj and tours to other parts of the Indian sub continent!
