Favourite Butty

Started by: Big Harold (130)

Now you've had your favourite Disney film and favourite cartoons, how about your favourite butty, mine would have to be Poached Tripe served warm on Rye bread with a spoonful of Sundried Tomato and Balsamic vinegar puree.

Not exactly a butty Harold....something I christened many years ago when I was on the motorcycle wing at Plant Hill Manchester...."The Wallgate Gateaux"...a ham salad barmcake with a meat and potato pie betwixt.....Marvellous....it spread around the motorcycle wings like wildfire....

How about a crisp butty, made with wholemeal bread, sliced from a still warm loaf, with butter melting and topped with a cheese spread, and the crisp layer made from some of the wonderful speciality crisps you can buy now, that is a matter of personal taste, I remember when there was only plain crisps, and you salted your own crisps from salt in a little blue bag, which you then put in the crisps bag and shook it up, but I like to put as many crisps as I can squash into the butty, using crisps like these.

But they are hard to get hold of around here.

Blimey Tom. That's a fair old plateful. It'd take me a couple of days to get through that lot!

I love home cooked ox tongue and garnished with fresh onion, and English mustard spread on the bread.

Buy the ox tongue whole and raw, and home cook it.
Why fresh tongue is so expensive now ( more expensive than some cuts of meat ) I don't know. It's only offal!
Simple to cook. Just bring it to the boil for 15 minutes and then let it simmer for an hour or so.
Delicious.

When I was young tongue to me was just a kind of meat but one day my Dad brought home a full cows tongue and cooked it.It put me off tongue for years. Then there is the old joke about about a posh woman being offered a tongue sandwich and says she could not eat something from a cows mouth and asked for an egg sandwich.

I never did like the idea of eating tongue. So never are it. At least an egg is protected by the shell.
I loved eggs apart from fried ones.

I never fancied eating roast heart, Jathbee, until I tried it.

It never appealed to me, in fact it made me feel sick even thinking about it!

I'm glad I did eventually try it, though. It is very tasty with a bit of home made stuffing
