MAKERFIELD M.P. STANDING DOWN!!

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6605)

I see that Yvonne Fovargue is retiring from politics and will not be standing as the MAKERFIELD M.P. at this election on July 4th. Since i am in that particular area and had her has our M.P i just think it's a bit crass of her seeing we won't have much time to choose whom the next candidate representing Labour will be considering it's only a few weeks away . There is not going to be a lot of time to select someone ,Question has anyone heard about this earlier that i have ?????? g.b.

Well that is news to me, and she is my MP, but as to who will replace her in a rock solid safe Labour seat, there has been talk about Andy Burnham, who would have a shoo in, as the Labour Party candidate for Makerfield, if he wanted to return to Parliament, but I can't see him doing that, as he has only just been re elected as Mayor of Greater Manchester.

The Labour Party could parachute in someone who they want as a long term MP for which they want a really safe Labour seat, same way as they parachuted in none Wiganer Lisa Nandy in 2010, and Jo Platt will be returning as Labour MP for Leigh.

I suppose we will find out shortly who will replace Yvonne Fovergoo

Her's not done much

But she is a member of the House of Commons 'Standards Commitee' and when Boris was put before them, she did ask him a question

I only wish Nandy would do the same as she was imposed on the Wigan Constiuency by the Labour Party Central Office with party members having no democratic say in the selection of the candidate.

For that reason my Wife and I have never voted for her and will not do so again on the 4th of July.

Quote James Grundy

"I have spoken before about the death threats aimed at my elderly parents after the Gaza debate, seen a colleague murdered, seen another have his office burned down and others either stepping down or changing constituencies due to harassment and abuse, to give just some examples during this Parliament. This not healthy for our national politics and needs to change, and with that in mind I have decided not to seek re-election."

He is standing down because he is going to lose BIG

It is a classic case of jumping before he is pushed, and I have met him, and I didn't like him, and that was before he became MP for Lobby Gobble Land

Lisa Nandy has for me done nothing for Wigan regarding its appearance…I know that’s upto the “Council “ but some pressure must come from someone…she can’t visit Wigan from the South end at all….awful and embarrassing

Josh Simons has been selected as the candidate for Makerfield, and he seems to be the reet chap for the job, he is a clever fellow, he graduated in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University, graduating top of his year with a starred double first and he has also done something at Harvard University in Yankland LINK

He sounds like the sort of bloke Tonker likes, a Gaffer clone

He runs the influential Labour Together group LINK

He is one of Starmer's buddies, and doesn't appear to be a left wing looney, ood a thowt, I am going to be getting a decent MP

But he is not local, he has been parashooted into a rock solid Labour seat, so that will get up the noses of a few people on here.

Labour have selected a candidate who said that gangs should be put on a barge and shipped to the North of Scotland.

At the time, Anas Sarwar said “he doesn’t represent the Labour Party”.

Well, he does now.

A Labour Candidate who wants to be elected as a MP should in addition to having a good local knowledge of the Constiuency they want to represent should be selected by local party members and not imposed on the constiuency and also have also have a knowledge of knowing what it is like to work for a living in a everyday job and also live in the Constiuency.

A typical example of a person not conversent with any of the above, irrespective of what type of education they have had being Lisa Nandy, the present MP for the Wigan Constiuency.

There is no 'present MP for the Wigan Constiuency'. Lisa Nandy has lost her seat.

She'll get it back, though, undoubtedly.

Kier Starmer has picked him, he is getting rid of the 'Left' the 'Looney Left' the 'Lefty Loonies' and replacing them with his buddies.

So now we know, the selected Labour candidate for the Makerfield Constiuency is another one selected by the Party HQ and not local party members who like Nandy has come from University with no real experince of what it is like to work for a living in a everyday job and more than likely will not be living in the Constuency.

Time that all candidates had a residency qualification of at least five years like that of Jo Platt, the Labour candidate for the Leigh Constiuncy and selected by local party members like she has been in Leigh.
