Happy new boots day

Treated myself to a new pair yesterday and . they are great, snug fitting , weather proof, protective toe and sole with some kind of energy powered propulsion that I can't explain but, I went for a walk in them and they did't want to come home. I've only one complaint and its the finger strap on the back that is meant to pull the boot on, Is too small and, this seems the case in every boot I've ever had. Are my fingers too big or, do boot makers have slim fingers and think they are typical ?

I've just tried them out in the rain and, they have fantastic pavement holding quality which gives you extra confidence when taking a curve at speed, The deep threads move the water in the rain yet without losing any adhesion on the dry tarmac or pavement flags in warmer days,
They sure was a bargain I got 2p change out of £40 which fits my criteria of buying anything which is, The best possible quality for, the least ammount of money,

Tom
The harder and thicker the soles are, the less likely that yoo will get a puncture, but they will slip more in wet weather, soft soles will wear away quickley in warm weather, and they puncture easily, but they give a lot better grip, I had a pair of adidas wellies, and I don't like buying branded shoo's, but they were a good all rounder, gripped well and wore well, I got plenty of mileage out of them.
They looked good too

The soles of my climbing shoes are reprocessed aircraft tyres.

Well the rain never stopped so the off road trials will have to wait, Reprocessed aircraft tyres,, yes, I like the sound of that and the concept of it, good boots are essential for walking , climbing, hiking and any outside activity , Being out doors in poor footwear is never a good idea, Your feet are carrying you so look after them cos if they get injured or you get trench foot, You are like a man in a desert with webbed feet,

I used to be a shoemaker way back and I could write a lengthy essay. Despite such 'progress' I find many modern shoes and boots very inferior to the British made offerings way back then. Its a pity - the British shoe industry suffered by competition from cheap products at the budget end from Korea, etc and top notch at the higher end from Italian products. We were barely making ends meet to compete and eventually went out of business.

JR I know what you mean, A shoe with a leather sole is far more comfotable and does not make your feet sweat, a plastic sole will make your feet rot and these trainers ( even the £SSSSSS ones) are so foot unfriendly they should be banned,

"Far, far away in a small town in Germany
There lived a shoemaker: Schumann was his name......."
Which is a song sung to the tune of Schubert's Marche Militaire
and it was a sort of Rugby song popular with Brit squaddies stationed in Germany in the decade or so following WW2. I gather you added a couplet or more of risque lines or double entendre to follow the above.
However, I have never been able to locate any example of them.

Todays icy pavement trials proved to be , almost disastrous on a slow bend on Wallgate, The right boot lost traction for a nanosecond and I prepared for impact by assuming The roll position but, The left boot compensated for the misalignment and put me back on course, I then adjusted my pace to suit the conditions,
Beware out there folks, the Wigan pavements are untreated,,
