One morning our milkman ( Billy Liar)
On expedition in Antarctica
Ploughed a single track up the Preston Road glacier ,
Left some gold top on our step ;
He was Lawrence Oates
Just gone out for some time .

The snow dropt soft as down
And curled around the milk float's tyres
As it slowly hummed up to Robinson's shop .
Then , he was in that film with Burt Lancaster ;
A pilot trying to ground the plane
Under landing lights .

Best place for snow on a photo. The two sides of Wigan snow to the North and Ice to the South.

I feel wet snow
on my cold, dry skin
As the morning light appears
to settle in.
The stars shine bright
to lead my way
Through tall, snow covered trees
which bend and sway.
I know not where I came from
or where I will go,
while strange noises crunch
the new fallen snow on Preston road.

Good grief is that really Mick or has he been watching ‘Christmas Carol’ with old Alistair Simm..or could he have been watching ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ with Jimmy Stewart?.. or indeed is it just another alias! Never mind I’m not one to hold grudges… A very Merry Christmas to one and all and a Happy New Year we all deserve that. xx

Thought you were moving down south Mick?

Comment by: Veronica on 21st December 2022 at 13:11

Tom you must know what ‘thought did’ …. Shall I elaborate? ‘ ‘followed a muck cart and thought it was a wedding’ ..another saying that’s gone with the wind.
