Memorial
Lovely. Let's hope it is treated respectfully. The bench is lovely too. There are similar ones in the Church Gardens in Wigan.
I can't work out where in Alexandra Park (which, confusingly, we used to call Robin Park) this statue can be. The hedges which used to surround the park are long gone. This statue is in front of a hedge and next to a gate which again I don't recognise as belonging to Alexandra Park. Can anyone help? Or have I got the wrong park?
Michael its across the road next to the bowling green, in between Mitchel st. and Victoria st.
The Alexandra Park I am thinking of is somewhere along Billinge Rd ? Not far from where the old chapel was & where my Auntie Annie Foster had a general shop
Michael, the statue and bench are located in the bowling greens on Mitchell Street. I still call it Robin Park too as do many others.
I used to go in a park, in the late seventies which I thought was Alexandra park.It was just off the main road, near were Plumptons garage used to be.Is this the same park?
I thought that was Mitchell Street. My mother and father-in-law, lived there for over 60 years.
Beautiful statue - reverential. Thank you Mick
It is Edna, lower down the road from what was then Plumpton's, which is now a car showroom.
Thank you for that Cyril.
