I like that photo. It's like the miniature railway is just dreaming away the Autumn days as it waits for things to get back to normal. (Aren't we all?!).

Clang . The signal's gone up ! Black chevron wobbling in the air .
The sudden excitement .
' What's coming you think . Steam or Yellow belly ?
' Go out on the track and have a look . Put your ear to the iron like Tonto '.

Unbelievable now , but that's what we did as kids trainspotting on the main line at Standish . In the last days of steam you still got a Casey Jones style wave from the driver , but mostly it was the numbers of the big yellow fronted diesels we copied into our note books .

Ah , just dreaming away on those sleepers .

We've walked up this track, when the train was not running.When the children were toddler's. Pretending they were the choo choo ! !!!!! happy day's.
