Oh George, Wigan really is an awful place. I would never have come to Ashton, had I known that we would be taken under Wigan M.B.C. control. How do you feel about Jake coming living with you, in Wigan, as we have no time for traitors here in Ashton.

john holmes, eh. ? i thought you were dead ! but, you know, jakes right about wigan being great. that's why the ashtoners say they live in wigan when they don't really, they just like to think they do. and winstanley is in wigan, that's why the liverpoolers all come to live there. wigan is a great place to live.

Jake, you joey, what do you mean 'Wigan is great, wouldn't live anywhere else'? You say you're in Ashton, don't you like it there ? Ashton is NOT Wigan ! If Wigan is so great go and live there with the rest of the joeys ! You're as bad as the scousers with their 'Liverpool is great' but they'd rather live in Garswood. ( or Winstanley ).

really good site, lots of interesting info, just found photo sent in by derek finch of Victoria fc in 1972 with my dad and my godfather on. don't know who the other people are who are marked as question marks are but i'll try and find out.

Just about the best site I've seen bar none. I am a 'spare time' author thinking seriously of setting a story in Wigan - although I have never been - and now going to make a visit soon. Brilliant and thank you.

G'day . Made me feel very home sick looking at all the pics. Have to say though after 15 years since leaving and having never gone back...the town looks soooo dirty. Rubbish everywhere...just dirty, like it has just been let go. Shame they are demolishing everything, cinemas, footy stadium...eveything gone to make way for Modern Crap. Sad but true. If only Wigan was a little nearer...I'd come home for long weekends and Christmas. Christmas in 40' heat is just not the same...its terrible. Anyone that remembers me, I used to work in Queen Vic and Thomas Cook, Abbey National, drop me a line. Especially Tony Scully from Abram.
