(robert). having spent my 61 years in golborne i should flaming well know where i live boy ! my wife too and shes from ashton. you seem to all be blindfolded. wigan council only want the m word out of you all and they are getting it too. wigan only came into the equation in 1974 and the place you are will always be the place you are no matter who the administrators are. take belfast for instance. is it in ireland or england ? so if you live in ashton you live in ashton not wigan. you merely pay to wigan council for the upkeep of wigan. i say bring back the urban districts and punch the wigan lot out we'll all be better off and those who want to be wiganers can go and live in wigan.

I'm Wigan through and through...love the place. I live in Ashton and have never left the wigan borough in all my 21 years on this planet. There is no need...we have everything..the best pies, pubs, sports teams, women. King street rules!!! Wicked Bo'!

i have heard, but i don't know, that the middlebrook/rebok stadium among other non-wigan places is on the wigan version of monopoly ? the same woman also shot me down by saying that wigan was only one of dozens of places to have its own monopoly game. she told me not to get too big headed about it. i felt like throwing myself in the duggie. what a let-down.

so attending a school near(?) to wigan makes you a wiganer does it ? used to be called upholland grammar school even though its nowhere near upholland. what a mix-up. wigan is on the inside of the signs that say wigan and there it should stay too. anyway what do you know youre just a plank from wigan pretending youre somebody famous.

I may only be a teenager but I know that I am so proud of wigan and everything it has achieved. The place in the premiership, the new mall opening soon, and even the new monopoly addition thats out! WIGAN RULES!!!!!!!!

couple of things not right on here. peter kane world boxing champ not a famous wiganer. from golborne yes but golborne is not wigan my address tells you that and no wigan connections at all in the 1930s. next the band the verve. i grew up with a verve guitarist and he says its just a myth that they are a wigan band. none of them come from wigan or have any connection with wigan. good site though and interesting but dont make things up stick to what you got.

It would seem that the inability to spell correctly is not confined to the area around Wigan. It abounds in the U.S.A. as well. But the Americans can be excused for their poor understading of English whereas, for the English there is no excuse, Mr. Pitt.

actually there is higher and lowur ince nr wigan.. wigan is the town.and ince is a surronding area..

Emma, Ince is NEAR Wigan, not IN Wigan. There are signs telling you this when you go into each place from the other.
