My mum & dads wedding day at St Stephens Whelley June 24th 1948. Kathleen Winstanley married Doug Stephens. From left to right Jim dads dad, Lizzy Winstanley, mums mum, Jack Winstanley, mums brother, Margaret Stephens, dads sister, dad, mum, Peter Hitchmough, mums uncle, Bette Such (nee Winstanley), mums cousin, Jack Stephens, dads brother, Maggie, dads mum. I came along 3 years later. Sadly dad died in 1982 (56 years old), mum died in 2001, she was 78. Mums brother Jack went on to become the Editor of the Wigan Observer. Uncle Peter ran the butchers shop on Schofield Lane just up from Scholes.
