Poor Wilf and his proverbial sore thumb…. Get well soon.

Our house is somewhere amongst those trees.

The Byrne residence, two garages and room for a pony.

Who cares!

Comment by: . Ozy . on 26th June 2025 at 08:20

No it ain’t Mick .

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 26th June 2025 at 08:29

It will be good to see the spire again when the work is completed
Note for Ozy....Ozy, the comment I made yesterday about The Flowers in May wasn't aimed at you but reading through it again I can see I had worded it as if it was. I have added an apology to yesterday's photo.

Comment by: Poet on 26th June 2025 at 08:54

Wasn't there once a chap who went about wrapping up buildings in the name of art ?

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 26th June 2025 at 10:27

It must be nice to have a house amongst the trees....sounds like Tarzan and The Apes.

Comment by: Mick on 26th June 2025 at 11:10

She's always there with her excuses, Ozy, and if you look proper proper, she doesn't mention you by name.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 26th June 2025 at 13:42

I used the name Ozy twice in my comment, Mick. I do know his "other" name but I don't use it on here. As I said yesterday, the misunderstanding was between Ozy and myself, no-one else, and if you don't mind I was speaking to the mechanic.

Comment by: Veronica on 26th June 2025 at 14:02

Perhaps that’s because Ozy is commenting under his pen name and that is what he wants to be known as on here.
Eee I can’t get the sound of Tarzan swinging through the trees with Cheetah out of my head now Irene…….

Poet, your comment brought an amusing memory. When my daughter was a little girl, (she's 44 today) we got her a bike for Christmas but her friend Claire's parents got Claire....wait for it.... a SHED! I know it sounds daft but it was a lovely idea really, so they could put it in their garden and Claire could play "house" in it with her friends. I remember saying "I don't know how we're going to wrap our Ashley's bike up", and Claire's Mum said, "Think yourself lucky.....how are we going to wrap our Claire's shed?!" , and we burst out laughing! She could have done with the man who wrapped buildings, Poet!

Irene, I did build a house in a tree in Standish in the mid '50's on our garden. I'll try and find the photo's of it. It was my hiding place from my mother if I'd upset her. I had to shimmy up the tree to get into it.

I see you diplomatically chose not to include the term ‘ oily rag ‘ Irene …

There ! … I’ve said it for you …

Diplomacy was never my strong suit … But then , I just couldn’t give a flying one anyway .

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 26th June 2025 at 20:01

Please do, Barrie.....you could put it on "Album"; it would be lovely to see it.

Comment by: Irene Roberts on 26th June 2025 at 21:46

It was tempting, Ozy, but I reined it in! "Organ Grinder" and "Monkey" was the alternative but with your working life being amongst lorries I thought "mechanic" was more suitable!

Comment by: Mick on 27th June 2025 at 07:02

Thanks for the explanation Irene because I do sometimes find you hard to understand when you start too ramble on, especially when you go back to when you was a child.

Why is so many folk anti Mick??
Mick is one of the first on PaD to take photos in all weather's for us all to see going back many years. He is a pioneer in photo technology where ever he goes and is so different.
He takes photos all over Wigan and District, many don't.
Mick is my number one.
