Why would someone hate it? It's just a fountain.

The American term for a fountain is a bubbler. I think Irene would have hated it had Dennis entitled his picture as "The Bubbler". So would I for that matter.

Beautiful photograph Dennis - the haze between the trees and the detail of the water droplets in the fountain - different shades of green contrasted by colourful spring flowers. Gorgeous, uplifting. Thank you.

It seems a fountain that suits the park it's in, maybe an odd colour...maroon & constructed of metal ?
Nice 'parky' photo Dennis.

When I first saw the fountain I thought it was awful. Looking at it now it doesn’t look bad at all…especially in that setting. It’s a lovely photo. Well done Dennis.

Ps to be honest I thought it was made of plastic until I went to the Park one day with the grandchildren and realised it wasn’t plastic at all. It’s grown on me since. (if that’s not quite the correct expression!)

It was restored to exactely to the original along with the same colour of paint job.
About 4 weeks ago I was riding past it and a Wigan lad wearing a latics shirt walked up to it and started shouting at the water for a few minutes, I didn't say anything I though it's best if I mind my own business because you never know do you.

I love the fountain and think that shot of it is one of the nicest I have seen....you can almost hear the water tinkling and the birds singing. Beautifully photographed, Dennis. It is either just plain maroon , or maybe maroon and green, if I remember rightly, Helen, as is the Victorian bandstand not that far away from it.

The fountain is complimented nicely by that colourful flower bed.

Great photo Dennis.
It is a good replication of the original maroon colour Mick, and was a better colour choice of paint than the Wiggin Corpy Green that was later splattered on everything, except the buses.
Looking at one of the photos of the original fountain on Wigan Buildings the base looks to be of stone or moulded concrete: https://wiganbuildings.co.uk/building.php?id=1084

I'm with Owd Reekie I don't understand why the love it or hate comments.
It's a funny thing to say about a fountain.

Wonderful photo of flowers and trees, and of course the fountain, I've read all the comments and got to thinking, well it's only banter, 'you can't beat a bit of bully'

Absolutely fantastic photo. It has everything.

If yoo want to call it a 'bubbler' like the American's doo, then to make the name catch on, pour some washing up liquid into it ......
