Helicopter and Frozen Fields

Helicopter and Frozen Fields
The pilot would have good views on this wintery morning in Langtree .

A Winter's day enhanced by a Black and White photo.
Great shot Poet.
Black and White photographs do have a place and this shot says it all.

Nice pic, but the writing on the side of the helicopter is a bit too small to read. And, Helen of Troy, thank you for your greeting on yesterday's photo. Happy Christmas to you also !

The landscape looks inviting even with the photo being in B/W. At 1st glance I did not spot the helicopter I thought I had a smudge on my laptop screen(HaHa) Who needs to travel a distance with scenes like this on your doorstep.

I knew that was one of yours as I scrolled up the photo Poet. A bleak & cold looking wintery landscape but a wonderful image.

Good photo Poet, but makes me glad I'm at home....brrrrrr!! I'm not a Winter person.

A Black and White photo is perfect for a Winters day, cold and dark days ahead.
A good choice.

Colour may be nearer to reality - not always, it depends on the lens and the type of film or i/t used - but black & white is aesthetically clearer and conveys atmosphere.
Excellent portrait Poet.

Lovely picture Poet. There is something about a black and white picture that enhances certain photographs and this is one of them.
I see this scene often taking the bus from Standish to Chorley and never tire of it whatever the season.
Once you have passed that final row of houses on the the right on Preston Road the view is amazing over the fields all the way to Haigh and Rivington beyond. As well as the helicopter I can see glimpse of the tall chimney on Bradley Hall Industrial Estate to the right.

It'll be Barretts looking for a building plot

It does look inviting to go for a walk ..’the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak’ in my case with teeth chattering! I hope the pilot isn’t scouting for fresh fields Syd Smith. Leave our fields alone I say..

The track over to Hic Bibi had become wet and muddy after so much rain but this sudden cold snap has made it iron hard and walkable again .
There was something a bit eerie about the noise of the helicopter .
Everything was so still and silent until it came , it's loud clattering seemed alien , like some Invader in the frigid air .
For a few minutes it took over the world . It was the only sound , the only thing moving .
Then it disappeared into someone else's sky , and here all was deadly quiet again .

Thanks for the kind comments . I'm pleased you like the picture , and all the best .

Every time I look at this brilliant photo, I have to put more coal on the fire, and open a bottle of sherry.
Great.

Love the photo Poet, a Winters tail. B/W brings the photo to life.
Bet your living room looks cosy Garry, a real Christmas spirit.
The coal fire and sherry when it's freezing outside. Would remind me of the 1960s.
