I know its the festive season but why is the tree lights on during the day light hours?

PeterP, I see your point but, unlike Wigan town and its surrounding districts that have a Christmas Tree in their midst, the cafe and small retail outlets at Haigh Hall will be closed after dark, so if the tree lights were lit there would be no-one there to see them, which is even more of a waste of electricity than having them on during the day, when at least there will be visitors there.

The lights are solar powered and they are on a timer, so I'm told.

It would have been a better image had the day been a little brighter, if you don't mind me saying that Mick

That tree is as bent as a nine Bob note.
I must say there is not much of the ‘Tis the season to be jolly’ about this scene.
It looks more like a scene from that lesser known book by Charles Dickens that begins ‘Twas the night before Christmas, and in the Workhouse the inmates sat down to a sumptuous meal of bread and gruel’

I cannot see any Christmas lights on the tree.

Can't see any lights only coloured balls. Good show though.

I usually have coloured balls at Christmas Garry.
Sometimes they’re coloured right through to Easter!
They start out black, blue and purple but turn a kind of orangey yellow around Good Friday time.
My doctor says I should keep taking the tablets.

Helen, the name of the cafe, "GRAZE", is in reference to the Friesian Cows who "GRAZE" in the fields of Edgworth and provide the milk for the manufacture of the ice-cream sold in that cafe.
Personally, I'd've picked Fredericks ice cream and called the cafe "VAN".

And the fence around it is horrible

Comment by: Edna on 1st December 2022 at 22:40

It does look dull. But the clock says it's 2:45pm and at 3:45 pm its dark!!!

Comment by: Cyril on 2nd December 2022 at 14:32

Helen, apparently according to the website, 'Graze in the Park is The Cafe where the locals go to eat, drink and socialize,' so yes a load of cattle sums it up.

John Noakes is correct what he says about the cows grazing in Edgworth.
