Nice to see the lodge being put to use for weddings and with the backdrop of the park a beautiful setting

Set within the award-winning, exquisite surroundings of Mesnes Park, The Lodge is available for weddings all year round and all week, except Tuesdays.

Mesnes Park, a wonderful centralised area to walk your dogs. There are plenty of paths and grassed areas for them to run around in enclosed exquisite surroundings for them to enjoy whilst safely exercising.

The Mock Tudor buildings that Wigan are famous for. Let’s hope they don’t get trashed in the town centre. Lovely renovation on that building bringing it back to life. I can imagine a June wedding in glorious weather with photos in the Rose Garden! Could be cheaper than Haigh Hall…. ;o).

Walking up the driveway, on a warm and sunny day It’s hard to know exactly what to say..
Taking in the skyline and the breathtaking scenery
the beautiful church, the sky and Wigan greenery
Then entering your home was such a great pleasure
The special thought put into it to make it such a treasure A big huge genuine Aussie thank you for opening your door and hopefully in time, we’ll be privileged to come back for more.

Always loved going to the park. Easter was the best I remember....egg rolling on the slopes. Summer was an ice cream slice from the man on his adapted bicycle. Happy days !

Wigan's mock Tudor fronted buildings were well known wasn't they Veronica, and at one time comparable to the ones at Chester, as was the choice in shops.

The park lodge was deemed to be demolished because of the state it was in with years of vandalism and neglect, but it was decided to restore it and it took quite a while to do behind covered scaffolding, and when unveiled they had done a great job in restoration and renovation. It was a good choice too for the lodge to be used as a council venue for weddings. https://www.wigan.gov.uk/Resident/Births-Marriage-Deaths/Marriages-and-Civil-Partnerships/Ceremony-venues.aspx
They've also put together a short film to show what they can offer there. https://youtu.be/Vb6LzLQVyVQ

You can buy modern versions of those ice cream bikes Helen, though unlike the dry ice of yesterday they use freezers running off a 12 volt battery to keep the ice cream cold. These make all sorts of cargo bikes and I suppose they'll make those Rickshaw bikes too that are becoming popularly seen in cities.

Cyril, you should put your name down for one of these television quiz shows, I'm sure you will do well with the amount of knowledge you know.

This is a really good photo Brian. I like the way you've caught the Lodge in the shade and the bright blue sky with some interesting clouds. A nice contrast. Well done.

It isn't knowledge that I know Tom, it's called having a Google. Unfortunately with TV quiz shows you aren't allowed to use a search engine to browse for answers to the questions, though remember when someone (cough) tried.

If you see Wigan Mick tell him he could be doing well with one of those Rickshaw bikes by taking tourists around on a guided tour of Wigan and Districts, he could be earning a fortune whilst still doing his morning bike rides, and become,
Fu Mickchu. https://youtu.be/lZ0YxRAR7w0

Cyril, I think that Tom is one of them from those message boards.
BTW did you watch Louis Theroux Interviews tonight, he was interviewing Bear Grylls, well if you did you might have seen a relation of yours, she was the Director and hew name comes up in the credits right at the very end.
You can see her on camera wearing a black tee shirt unloading her stuff from the boat.

Mick, I was under the impression that you sometimes bumped into Tom to go on travels.

I'm not into watching those Luís Theroux programmes and interviews, and I had my fill of those TV survival programmes with how to survive for a week in darkest Amberswood with Ray Mears, so Bear Grylls is out.

Is it your Angela directing the programmes? If so she's done well then in the TV filming world to become a Director, as it was reckoned to be quite tough for women to get on in the once seen as male dominant world of TV programme making, send our best wishes.

Yes Cyril shes a Director now.
She will have another one on in a couple of weeks, when they do Rita Ora, they had to fly to Los Angeles and Tirana in Albania interview her.
