It's just across the road from the New Inn. Used to go in them both on Sunday afternoon until about 5 yrs ago.

The Breweries and the Supermarkets are the cause of the pubs closing, a lot cheaper to bottle and can beer and deliver in huge loads, and the supermarkets sell beer much cheaper than pubs.

Why are so many pubs closing in the UK ?

Over here in Canada we have new drinking establishments pretending to be "English Pubs"

Alan.

p.s. Perhaps you should emigrate like I did.

Fred its the public who are the cause of pubs closing.

John Banks, it would have been the early 1970s when I was last in there and supporting my then local pub darts team, those inter pub darts matches were always a good night out and not just to watch and experience the tenseness and later the elation of the match, but to round off the night there was always large platters of very tangy Lancashire cheese butties piled high and with big bowls of sliced onions in malt vinegar.

Alan, (on Vancouver Island), I am so pleased to know that new "English Pubs" are opening near you, but, despite what it is like in England now, it is still my home and I would never emigrate. You and "Broady", (my other Wigan World friend who emigrated to Canada), have found a happy home there and I am so happy for you both, but emigration isn't for everyone. But I hope you will raise a glass in a "Cheers" to us all in England in the new English pubs. Cheers, Alan and Broady....good health and happiness to you both.

Irene nobody is asking you to emigrate.
Alan, (on Vancouver Island) they have English pubs in Spain, China, Australia and Las Vegas but there not really English pubs.
Just remembered I use to drink in a couple, one was in Beirut called the Rose and Crown and another I frequented was in Tehran called the Chelsea Pub.
Oh and there were plenty in Hong Kong and Singapore.
