Mural
Very nice, looks like someone is remembering that Lancashire ...& Wigan... were built on mining & weaving.
Nice as this street art is who pays for them to be done? Scaffold is not cheap. How long before the graffiti gangs spoil them or would that be called modern art?
Are three pot ducks being delivered to fly across the sky?
It will be interesting to see when it’s finished.
thought you had moved away mick
I rambled past this painting last week and I can say it looks great now that its finished and the scaffold removed.
I was told that its all been payed for the the owner of the Kirkless industrial estate who also owned the old Commercial, the Commercial is now being made into two houses.
Mick I coudnt get to the other side of the canal bank, don't know how you did it.
I've seen a picture of this on Facebook with many more Wigan images on....pit-heads, canal-boats etc. It looked amazing!
Looked like it had been completed when I walked past last Saturday.
I love seeing these on buildings, very interesting.
Where exactly is this Old Commercial Inn ??
Remind me , throw the paint ,
Disguise a dummy , or a Robinson feint ,
What is true , as I fight to hold ,
what is left ,
Of our pieces told ,
Central Park , Market Hall , pubs we knew , each an’ all ,
Shops and schools , rich beneath ,
don’t dare show me my Wigan wreath ,
No paint can tell how each has lived ,
Or those before we owe who gived..
Ray, the old Commercial Inn building is in New Springs, next to Cale Lane Bridge, No. 57, on Wigan Flight.

The finished mural is beautiful and is the work of artist Robert Tedaldi. It’s been covered with an anti-vandal coating which will hopefully protect it: https://www.wigantoday.net/news/people/artist-brought-in-to-reflect-on-the-beauties-of-wigan-waterways-3660866
Thank you Joanne.
