luckily the clowncil don't own this building or it would have been flattened along with all the other buildings with any aesthetic value

Once done up I hope it is gated at both ends . This will stop it being used has a toilet.

Last time I walked through there Dawsons music shop was at the end with Jack Matthews demonstrating organs to customers. All in all a very pleasant experience. Dread to think how long ago that was.

Anne, I think that it was probably the same for most Wiganers, especially in the day time as King Street - as a shopping area - went down hill very quickly.
I used to regularly go into Dawsons music shop and Jack was not only very good as an organist he was also a very nice person: extremely polite and very helpful.
Hopefully, Grimes Arcade is going to be brought back to its former glory and let us hope that the council try to get King Street back to an area we can be proud of, again..

Don’t know why my comment has posted twice. It was the earlier one the original.

Jack Mathews and his family lived on Nook Lane in Golborne…he was very knowledgeable about music and played in many clubs locally

Grimes' Arcade isn't a building. It's a space behind a building and between two other buildings, 22 and 24, King Street. Although, it will be a building when it's built. I heard Tony Calaghan had bought it, so it might end up as another bar and might be called Number 23.
