It's a Pegasus Crossing for pedestrians and horses located on Wigan Lane, riders press the higher button on the poles so not needing to dismount to reach a button when wanting to cross the road.

She may be picking up her daughter from Woodfield school. Most kids like to ride their bike or scooter back home - her daughter must want to ride her pony home.

Too true Edna, the drop off/pick up traffic around schools is horrendous at start/home times, even with the majority of pupils living within walking distance of them.
