Busy Busy Busy

Busy Busy Busy
Christmas Shopping on Standishgate. I see that our local festive Council have added to the all round gaiety of the scene by scraping the bottom of the Corporate Treasure Chest to add a few magnificent lamp decorations to the almost overwhelmingly joyous shopping experience.

Merry Christmas to all &
keep safe said Tiny Tim.

Must admit it does look a tad busier than usual.
I know not why as there's more shops and stores where I live in the 'wilds' of Westhoughton.
I can see buildings but nothing in them to lure me there sadly.
A Very Merry Christmas to All.

Looks as though the once thriving Pigeon populations have deserted the town centre for fresh pecking's, I can only see three. Though with the jobsworth litter enforcement Wallahs issuing penalties for folks dropping even a few pie crumbs on the pavement, there'll not be much food around for birds to eat.

Much nicer Christmas decorations in Westhoughton too, Veronica,

This photograph should be an EMBARRASSMENT to the Wigan run Labour Council. But as half of them don't come from Wigan are they bothered???

Comment by: Veronica on 23rd December 2021 at 12:42

Yes they seem to add a few more tasteful decorations every year Helen.
One thing saddens me though - the town Nativity scene is encased in Perspex. A sign of the times..I wonder what the Pretoria pit man thinks of that on his knees at the back of the garden .

Yes Veronica,Westhoughton is well-kept and seems thriving, you can tell there is pride in the community there.

There's far worse places Elizabeth ..x

Westhoughton is well kept because it has a town council. If it hadn’t it would end up like the towns under Wigan council.

Where is everyone shopping? There are no shops, coffee shops are full though. Have a nice peaceful Christmas everyone.

Shocking that, for Christmas.

Comment by: That Mon on 26th December 2021 at 16:50

Veronica, as you might well know, Westhoughton town council send out begging letters, to all local businesses, every year, asking for donations for Christmas decorations. So, you know who to thank for any new decorations. And it’s not the council.

I know what you mean That Mon. The Rotary do a grand job.... they do a lot for the old 'un's as well.
