I remember taking that photo, would be round about New Year 1989.

This PAD just made me doze off, but I'm awake again now.

Good to see both photos, monochrome does make me think about colours. The trees have grown up in the background

Good idea with these 'then and now' photos, although I'm not as familiar with Pemberton as it is now. Nice to see the terrace of older houses, they look nice when they are improved for today's generations. The advertising on shop fronts are very 'in your face'. I would rather have yesteryear's... more tasteful. ( I sound like Hyacinth Bouquet!). Good photo Dennis it's nice to be reminded of other areas in Wigan.

I love these old photos and the comparison between past and present. It reminds me of the 'spot the difference' puzzles that we used to do when we were children.

The gutters were swept better in the past not as they are now. Full of weeds and grass

I have caught a bus at the front of this shop many times when missus lived in Tunstall Lane. I can also remember when the Ribble bus stop was about 100yds up the road and we used to stand in between the stops because you had to catch either the Ribble bus or the Wigan Corp bus but had to use the correct bus stop.
