No disabled bay?

How times change, a bit different to pulling onto my Dad’s garage and paying 7s 6d for a gallon of petrol and being served into the bargain.

I have never had a close look at any charging station. Just wondered when you plug into your car is the lead locked into the socket on the car? I ask because if not whats stopping the local idiot from unplugging your car has soon as you walk away from it.?

Useful for local travel.
Useless for me - elder son and grandson are 299 miles away in Norfolk. That's a 5 hour plus journey - with any electric a 1 to 2 hour charge needed en route. Anything on the A1 or A17 or A47 will be heaving.
And Green arguments are a little thin - the electricity still has to be generated and the life of a lithium battery is at best 5 to 7 years.
There's talk of hydrogen cars - the first accident involving two of them could be interesting!

Good points Peter and Gary. I have wondered what would I do with myself during the apparent minimum of an half hour fill up time as opposed to the few minutes, even allowing for queuing time filling up with conventional fuel.

Where is this Mick, is it at the petrol station nearest the motorway ?

The colour made me start singing "We'll always be together in Electric Dreams".....that's certainly electric blue! Similarly to Gary with his son, my daughter is 500 miles away. I also understand Peter P's point of view......we used to have a touring caravan which we left plugged into the electric on the site from April to October, and a couple of times the nearby children had unplugged it. We used to have an LPG Car and we got a map showing where the filling-up stations were....when we got to them, some had already closed down....it was a nightmare. Hope the people seeking electric charging stations have better luck.

Shevington Mick ? A garish sight if ever i saw one. Garish meanings.....
Clothed in vivid colours.
Offensively or distressingly bright.
Tastelessly showy.
I think they just about sum the horrible mess up.

Another thing occurred to me. In cold weather how does heating affect the drain on the battery? Would this make for longer queues in wintertime?

My Son used to drive an electric car,he used to ring us up for a chat while he was in the queue,he sometimes in it for over half an hour.

In the not to distant future , we humans , will have to plug ourselves in and out via a central government app. Our bodies , so filled with new technologies , will be handed over to the powers that be to decide our daily needs .

Rainh, you have just hit the nail on the head, in what I was thinking Technology is taking us where we don't want to go.I know its useful in some areas of life, but not all.
