Alien frog in Standish?

Alien frog in Standish?
We’ve a couple of dozen frogs in our pond at present - most are like the one on the left. There are two like the one on the right. I’ve seen shades of brown and green before - but this is a first for me - though amphibian websites seem to think it’s normal.

It’s not often you see frogs turning their backs on one another at this time of year.

Ive got some who have been at it but now my fish are eating the tadpoles, so Ive put some spawn in a bucket so that the tadpoles have a better chance of living

They look as if there's something chameleon about them - similar to lizards. They're not the most endearing of species even when they are green.
Interesting change of photograph for P a D. But it's that time of year for them as much as daffodils etc.

One of neighbours had a pond full of frog spawn. He got up the next day and the pond was clear of frogs spawn ,A Heron had eat the lot.

An interesting photo. It reminds me of the songs we used to sing at Junior School...."Mr. Froggy went a-courtin' and he did ride, mm- mmmmm" and "A frog he would a wooing go, hey-ho said Rowley". Does anyone else remember those?

Since I came to live in Canada I have seen more Grizzly Bears than frogs. I never remember seeing any since my youth even in England.

I remember seeing them in Polly's, Broady, and tadpoles too, when my children were young, down at the bottom near Kingsdown Road.

Back in the early 60’s every time it rained hard there were lots across from the top shop on the pavement. We used to get them in our pen and you would see “ frog spit” on the leaves.

I'm not a fan of frogs, but its a good photo David.

Broady Frogs don't spit, the cluster of small foamy bubbles your on about is caused by an insect called a spittlebug

Mick,
I think I was early teens at that time. I also thought the moon was made of cheese. Even to this day I never knew about spittlebugs but I do now. Thank you.
