Shortly to be turned into a 'Smart Motorway'

Excellent how that's done Dave, this shot reminds me how we all live in society, everything is about speed, we want it done yesterday.

Malc - that's fine as long as we have 'Smart Drivers' :-)

I thought the Government was going to 'do away' with Smart Motorways because of how dangerous they were and the many fatalities which resulted.

Lived on Pemberton Road in Winstanley for many years, so very familiar with this view.

The only time I've walked the five miles between Wigan and Billinge was the return journey from The Room At the Top to just the other side of The Stork Hotel - New Year's Day '65 I think it was. One of the lads was unaccounted for at the outset, but found later in an intoxicated state slumped over the railings of the 'Day's bridge. Near, and to the left of the 'Days bridge, is where trees once grew, rooting close to the tarmac verge - a tour-de-force for the man in a car on pea-souper nights ... oh, yes.
