Female Broad-bodied chaser
Stunning once again Dave, very skillful indeed...a craftsman at work. Many thanks for that.
Well Im glad I wasnt created as a Broad bodied chaser because they only live for about a three months and in that short they have to mate on the wing which takes less than a minute and lay they eggs which must be painful, then they also have to watch out for something else eating them and the eggs.
Look at those beautiful wings, like lace. A stunning photo! We live quite near to Low Hall Nature Reserve and keep saying we'll go for a walk there but we never get round to it. That's the trouble with things on your doorstep...you take them for granted.
Is a hard life for some Mick... Marvelous close up! And to think I would bat it away if it landed on me...
Nature's Art Nouveau .
I particularly love these photos of our wild life where we can see such detail and what a skilled photographer. Thank you
Stunning image Dave, thanks for sharing.
I've seen dragonflies flying over ponds, but never this close up and didn't know they were so beautiful. Gossamer wings - fabulous.
Thank you Dave.
Thanks folks :)
We look forward to seeing them return each summer, they have a big appetite for mosquitoes.
