Well I am sorry to have to say it is a very poor looking Memorial Garden. I suppose the gloomy day doesnt help the pic.

Yes Helen its is a bit neglected, I think if it was in another area of the borough, like up in Shevington there would be a group of volunteers gardens known as the Friends of Ekersley Memorial Gardens who would keep it spruced up and made more attractive to the passing motorist

Why do the admins of this site not ban this racist, sexist, ageist, snobbish cretin, i will never know.

Shevington was packing it in weren't they? not enough interest and same ones doing it all? last time I looked any road. So, not quite pleasantville as some like to make out. All Mick did was stand, watch and take pictures.

Apart from the missing 'c', there's also a missing memorial. There used to be a memorial seat, with a bronze medallion built into the stonework behind the bench. I came across a report of its dedication recently - I think it was sometime in the late 1920s that it was dedicated.

Always think St. James is a very handsome church.
