What a stunning image !!
Classic scene. Heavy heat. Too hot! Cloud about to burst in a turbulent sea sky.
Sploshes dab the pavements with starfish.
People scurry up steps for shelter. The pavilion suddenly crowded as the sweet rain rattles on the glass roof.
Brilliant British summer beautifully caught.

Would love to have been there to see that sky - even without an umbrella and mac! It would have been a relief after the heat....
You can sense the eerie silence beneath the sky,before the crack of thunder!

As children we alway used to say...let’s go to Wigan park today and feed the ducks.
It was only in later years that I got to know it as Mesnes Park.
An icon indeed!
Mesnes Park doesn't have the same ring
to it - it will always be Wigan Park or 'The Park' to me. When did the name change anyway? I certainly never heard 'Mesnes Park' mentioned when I lived in Wigan.
( Must be somebody who doesn't hail from Wigan that started it off) !
