When was this taken? its been full of flowers this week to mark the anniversary of her death.

It's actually on Greenslate road just outside the farm. A few years ago before the community farm and allotments were in place. A few of us volunteered to clean this small patch of land and repaired some of the fence you can see in the background.

I would say it was taken in early Spring Darren, the Flame of the Forest plants on either side of the bench have just come into flower.

Forgive my ignorance but who was Ellen Higginbottom and what did she do that was so memorable? It seems a popular idea to have benches in people's name these days.

Darren it was taken when I was doing a tour of Orrell.
I rode up through the reservoirs amd out at Greenslate farm, then retraced my tyre tracks to the main road and then down Hall lane and Brooke lane coming out in Pemberton.

Veronica, Ellen was the young lady cruelly and callously murdered by a sub-human creature I won't dignify by naming. She was a student at Winstanley College you may remember?

Veronica,Ayrefield has put a link of the full story on Communicate-General for you.

Oh! I remember - how sad! Thank you Gareth for jogging my memory. It was very tragic.

Thankyou for that Maureen and AyrefieId. I remember reading about it at the time then nothing since. I also have a poor memory for names.
I don't normally go on the other forums either. I will remember the poor girl's name now though. Rest in Peace Ellen.
