Really nice photo, David.

Well done.

Comment by: Mick on 12th December 2016 at 00:04

What a rip off these markets are.

Comment by: truewigana on 12th December 2016 at 00:12

Why's that, Mick, Don't you like "foreigners" in your little town

Comment by: Ken R on 12th December 2016 at 00:47

Very nice David. I will have two crepe suzettes if you please.

Comment by: Garry on 12th December 2016 at 07:59

Junk food!
I much prefer the road instead of block paving. It looked much better when all the busses were parked there instead of those garden sheds. Wigan is destroyed.

Comment by: Helen of Troy on 12th December 2016 at 08:08

Ahhh, I waited for many a Corporation bus there. Looks like an early morning photo or is it all pedestrianised these days ?

Comment by: Kas on 12th December 2016 at 11:02

I agree with you about the buses Garry. Thanks for the picture David.

Comment by: winder on 12th December 2016 at 11:28

Church clock says five past four, people are going home.
I don't blame 'em.

Comment by: Alan H on 12th December 2016 at 11:42

Helen of Troy, the clock says 4 05 pm. It's been pedestrianised for years and there are plans to spend yet more millions on another re- vamp. Total waste of time and money.

Comment by: Helen of Troy on 12th December 2016 at 12:38

Oops ! I should learn to look more closely, sorry !

Comment by: Garry on 12th December 2016 at 13:32

Look at all the chewing gum spit out all over the paving, they should be fined like smokers are for throwing cig butt ends away. Lets get it right.

Comment by: britboy on 12th December 2016 at 14:00

What is wrong with disgusting chewing gum chewers? What a mess they make of the lovely block paving.
Of course it's been a problem for many years and near impossible to police.
Doesn't seem to have improved any since I left Wigan over 16 yrs ago.
In the USA this does not happen and considering there's a hell of a lot more gum addicts.

Comment by: Garry on 12th December 2016 at 17:14

Britboy: it can be policed because in our local paper the Wigan Observer, we have a page section called a week in court, the amount of people who get fined for throwing cig ends on the floor is justified and the fine can be steep as well. So chewing gum should be treated in the same way.

Comment by: Vb on 12th December 2016 at 18:07

Agree with you Garry ......but it's catching them doing it!! It's disgusting and very difficult to remove it.

Comment by: David on 12th December 2016 at 21:30

Thanks all. Half of the mess on the ground is fallen leaves.

Comment by: Garry on 12th December 2016 at 21:59

David, it's mostly gum.
Vb, your right it is catching them, but they catch people who throw gigs on the floor, same thing to me!
Put me in charge, I'd make a mint.

Comment by: Alan on 12th December 2016 at 22:31

That chewing gum we can all clearly see, is all over the town not just here.

Comment by: David on 12th December 2016 at 23:59

Comment by: Garry on 13th December 2016 at 09:09

Fallen leaves my foot, I can't see one tree in sight. However, leaves WILL blow away in time but gum won't. The Council will need a power hose to shift the filth.

Comment by: Alex on 13th December 2016 at 09:12

Dead leaves are brown not white.
Its chewing gum alright.

Comment by: Garrrry on 13th December 2016 at 14:03

Mainly leaves, oh how it must pain Gary 2R's to be wrong so many times

Comment by: truewigana on 13th December 2016 at 14:07

If you care to look at David's close upload image it can be seen very clearly most obviously leaves, wrong again Larry

Comment by: Garry on 13th December 2016 at 15:11

idiots are back, not educated enough to voice an opinion.
Some folk are not so bright.

Comment by: Vb on 13th December 2016 at 16:09

I went along there this morning there was quite a substantial amount of chewing gum - white and definitely stuck and flattened to the ground! Not saying there wasn't any litter as well-also coming off the train station up the steps it was stuck on the rubber coating on every step. Now that will be hard to come off!

Comment by: Garry on 13th December 2016 at 17:40

Vb is living proof.

Comment by: truewigana on 14th December 2016 at 08:56

Only one idiot Gary, and why do you always try to get the last word, LOOK AT THE CLOSE UP, LEAVES!

Comment by: Garry on 14th December 2016 at 18:47

By Gum it's chewing gum!
Don't need close up, I can see perfectly.

Comment by: truewigana on 14th December 2016 at 23:12

Just "leave" it Gary, i win, you lose AGAIN

Comment by: Pw on 15th December 2016 at 12:12

Comment by: Vb on 15th December 2016 at 14:57

Perhaps the leaves have taken leave by now!
I blame the Yanks it's them who brought the gum over in WW2 !!! :-) :-)......

Comment by: Garry on 15th December 2016 at 18:22

Comment by: truewigana on 15th December 2016 at 19:25

Maybe you should try some gum Gary, anything that keeps that big gob closed

Comment by: Garry on 15th December 2016 at 21:15

You mean my finger don't you lol.
Thankyou to all who happen to prove that it IS chewing gum on the pavement, by being there, Pw and Vb.

Comment by: HC. on 16th December 2016 at 08:38

I thought the the silly comments had stopped, seems not.

Comment by: truewigana on 16th December 2016 at 09:39

Even old senile foolscan see its mainly leaves

Comment by: Pw on 17th December 2016 at 06:59

truewigana, there are leaves and gum on the photo. When I went to Wigan I could not believe how much chewing gum was on the floor ruining the block paving and some beautiful York stone all around the town.Garry has made a good comment about the problem .

Comment by: Garry on 17th December 2016 at 18:19

Thank you Pw.

Comment by: truewigana on 17th December 2016 at 20:02

Pw i here what you say, not saying theres no gum on the streets of wigan town centre, but regarding this picture it is mainly leaves as David who took the photo showed in a close up shot, Not Wallgate station steps or anywhere else but here at the top of Marketplace, its mainly leaves, As for Gary who insists he's right (as per) how the hell he knows when he's probably never stepped foot outside of Ince for the last 20 years but Gary being Garrry seems to always want the last word, Can see this post going on for quite a while

Comment by: truewigana on 17th December 2016 at 21:45

Correct Pw but Garrrrry of Ince does not see any leaves, or refuses to admit he's wrong again
