Good shot David, pity it didn't include the black swans.

Lovely house in a lovely setting-didn't know of its existence!

Is this Arley Hall anything to do with the Arley brick featured on the Album section 11/02/16?
Maybe the brickworks owners house?

Nice to see this, depsite it's antiquity I don't recall seeing many photos of Arley Hall.

Vb, it's actually Wigan Golf Club, it is surrounded by an ancient moat, which has black swans on it. It's at the top of Red Rock Hill, go up the hill from Chorley Rd, turn left at the canal traffic lights and it you cant miss it.

Lovely photo. I like how the hall is viewed through the branches.

There is a grave of George the pony near to the Hall. I remember it being by a tree.

Lovely photograph and setting. A number of years ago I took my young nephews and our dogs a walk along the canal from Red Rock bridge and Arley Hall and the" moat" came into view , before that is an aqueduct where the railway went "Under" the canal and farther along you looked down into a valley with a house accessed by a ford. Quite interesting and intriguing to the children And to cap it there was a man living in a Teepee on the other side of the canal
