Photo-a-Day (Monday, 28th December, 2015)
I used to walk up and down here every day going to school. great photo.
Superb picture and the subject of many a painting
One of my favourite photos on Wigan World is: #3485, late seventies. This is the up to date version. Very little change apart from the lamp posts and the large building which collapsed, now gone. Good one
To think that this was the main road thro` Wigan from North to South - the A49 - up until the Preston By-pass was opened on 5th Dec.1958 by Harold Macmillan. This By-pass became part of the M6 and is the longest motorway in the UK, 33 miles longer than the M1.
