Where is the number 57 that we are so familiar with. Years ago it could be seen on the M6.

A good shot, from a different angle I am used to from the Orrell side of the factory,making it look much larger.

You still can see it from the M6, Garry, it's not moved!
This view is from the other side of the complex, so the 57 sign is on the far side of the red building on the right.

I remember after the power cuts in the 1970's it was ages before the 57 sign was switched on at nights again.

I remember the place being built, watching a helicopter lifting equipment onto the factory roof.
Fortunately a part of my childhood managed to survive it all, the magical Porters Wood.
