Nice one David, (do you have a brother Jack)? looks really cold. This shot is immemorial, known to millions, I think it is Ron Ds favorite bridge.

Getting colder from yesterday.Good one David.

Brilliant shot......roll on Summer!

Most photographed bridge in Wigan.

The push bikers look like they are on a long ride with the way they are bunched up.

If the Sunday nights episode of Foyles War is the one Im thinking it is they might show a some of the canal bridge in the back ground

a great Winter photo but good to see that people are still out and about

Comment by: Peter on 14th January 2015 at 10:06

Nice cold shot again david

Comment by: Maureen on 14th January 2015 at 11:03

That is a brilliant shot..it really stirs the senses to make you feel the
cold.

Comment by: Roy on 14th January 2015 at 11:06

Mick, are you sure the folk other than the lad at the rear are ON bikes ? The one at the back of the bunch appears to be carrying a stick, they seem TOO close together to be on bikes. A.Parr, it's not as cold as it looks. Nice shot David.

Comment by: Mick on 14th January 2015 at 12:38

Roy you could be right

Comment by: Aubrey on 14th January 2015 at 13:03

I think you are correct Roy, the lady in the white coat wouldn't appear to be riding a bike either.

Comment by: christine on 14th January 2015 at 13:13

yes they do look like they are walkers ,except for the boy on the bike .good shot

Comment by: Garry on 14th January 2015 at 14:40

Summer or Winter, the photo's great.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 14th January 2015 at 17:20

Whenever I see a photo of this bridge it reminds me of the Wigan Rowing Club boat house. Look in Album, Places, Haigh. Photo #3634 on page 1, last on 3rd row shows this bridge and the boat house.
Roy; How do you know how cold it was?
When was photo taken, David?

Warm bed, freezing cold!!!

Comment by: Fred Mason on 14th January 2015 at 18:54

Hard to imagine when I was 14-15 or so I used to fish in the canals at this time of the year with no feeling of cold whatsoever. Guess I have turned into a big softie now.

Good photo, David....well done..

Comment by: Roy on 14th January 2015 at 19:34

Ernest, i presume the pic was taken in the last few days, if so, it hasn't been particularly cold and definately as cold as the pic would have us imagine, especially to someone like A. Parr from downunder.

Comment by: David Wood on 14th January 2015 at 20:52

Ken no I don't have a brother called Jack.
Ernest the photo was taken on the 29th December 2014.
Thanks all :)

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 14th January 2015 at 21:09

Thanks David.
Roy; The minimum temperature on 29th Dec.2014 was 25 deg.F.

Nice one David.
-----------

A silent stillness
creeps through the mist.
A deep-deep chillness
grips like a clench-ed fist.

Stop we must not!
must move forward and on!
else we will become
as a cold-stone kissed.

Comment by: Roy on 15th January 2015 at 00:18

Ernest, i dont do Fahrenheit, so it was -3 Celsius, yes, when we were in bed, when they were out and about and the pic was taken, it was possibly +3 C 37 F, if you think it is/has been cold you had better change your butcher.

Comment by: Neil cain on 16th January 2015 at 19:45

I am with Roy...Fahrenheit for me
