Well done Dave, Kingfishers are very elusive,and difficult to photograph .

this is probably the start of Bird theme month. He looks like he leaned up against a white paling fence

Nice! And to fend off the What's-it-got-to-do-with-Wigan? folks, for me it's a lot. Last time I saw one was on the rowing club basin bridge at Haigh. The kingfishers across the pond here are just three shades of grey. Thank you, Dave.

I see the twitchers are all up nice a early.
Reason it might be short on tail feathers could be because it a juvenile thats not grow a tail yet.

Beautiful bird,excellent photo.Last time I saw a kingfisher in the UK was in 1980 behind the Red Lion at the Dover Lock at Abram.I get pied and brown hooded king fishers in the garden here!
