Nice! And to fend off the What's-it-got-to-do-with-Wigan? folks, for me it's a lot. Last time I saw one was on the rowing club basin bridge at Haigh. The kingfishers across the pond here are just three shades of grey. Thank you, Dave.

As for the kingfisher being a bit short in the tail feathers, its a bird, it moults !

I see the twitchers are all up nice a early.
Reason it might be short on tail feathers could be because it a juvenile thats not grow a tail yet.

Beautiful bird,excellent photo.Last time I saw a kingfisher in the UK was in 1980 behind the Red Lion at the Dover Lock at Abram.I get pied and brown hooded king fishers in the garden here!
