The firemen usually put ramps over the hose. After saying that, the pipe should withstand cars passing over it. Maybe it was already fractured, there's some water pressure in the pipe.
What was on fire?

The owner of this rubbish dump has been in the news for environmental issues a few weeks ago he was in court charged with attacking an environment agency inspector.

Flames are said to have leapt 90 feet in the air and were visible from Blackrod on the edge of Bolton 10 miles away after the inferno at Isherwood Skip Hire.

Hello Anne. It was named Wigan Cemetery, but its actually been renamed' Its now, Lower Ince Cemetery and Wigan Crematorium. I was surprised when I saw the new board at the cemetery gates.
