Beautiful sunrise.. I miss seeing sunrises, where I live, we are surrounded by trees , so I don't get to see the sun until it has risen above the treetops. :-(

A glorious morning, well done Kath

Comment by: Colin Harlow on 26th October 2013 at 08:31

Very good photo Kathleen, the sky reminds me of very hot steel being melted down at a furnace.

Comment by: Garry on 26th October 2013 at 08:33

Hot and Cold. Don't forget the clocks tonight.

Not sure if it's technically Wigan lane or Standishgate. this was the day -Sept15th when it got very stormy in the afternoon.

Comment by: Maureen on 26th October 2013 at 11:08

That's a lovely shot Kath..it makes me feel warm on this cold morning..pat yourself on the back.

Comment by: Gareth on 26th October 2013 at 13:07

Good shot but remember part of the saying - Red sky in the morning - shepherds warning or something similar !

Comment by: Maureen on 26th October 2013 at 14:52

Apologies if this comes on twice..Gareth..I think the saying is red sky in morning sailors warning red sky at night shepherds delight..you wonder who started these sayings don't you..I bet somebody says a sailor and a shepherd.lol

Comment by: Jean F (Wales) on 26th October 2013 at 15:55

Amazimg kathleen,What time of the day was this?

Thanks for the reminder Garry (clocks)

Comment by: Ellen on 26th October 2013 at 16:25

How odd, I remember the saying as an either/or, with sailors/shepherds at each end of the day! (that seems a little awkward, but I'm having a rather prolonged senior moment - hope you catch my drift!)

Comment by: Neil Rigby on 26th October 2013 at 16:56

Maureen, Shakespeare might have started the saying (either version):
VENUS AND ADONIS:
....
Like a red morn, that ever yet betoken'd
Wrack to the seaman, tempest to the field,
Sorrow to shepherds, woe unto the birds,
Gusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to herds.
....

Well Worth getting up early for.

Red sky in the morning - Shepherds' warning. we did have a very stormy afternoon that day.
Jean - it was taken about 6.30 am I think. it as mid Sept. I took loads because the sky was changing every second and then suddenly the sun is up and it's all gone.

Yes Carol, very happy memories, fantastic school.

Comment by: Carol on 27th October 2013 at 20:52

School days are long over yet memories remain Neil. After leaving school I had a friend who had a crush on one of your old team mates, Alan Wilson. But alas the years have caught up with us and now in our late 50s & 60s the memories are lovely to have.
