WAIT for the comments from 'Money For Youth' "They shouldn't be spending money on this but spending it on the poor deprived youth of today."

Comment by: maggie on 5th July 2013 at 11:28

This place is an important part of the Heritage of the area. it looks brilliant and brings back some memories of my childhood.

Comment by: money for youth on 5th July 2013 at 11:37

Ha Ha very good SCARAMOUCHE !!! Have they modeled the statue on yourself a grumpy old man sat watching the children all playing nice in our lovely park.

Comment by: WIGANER on 5th July 2013 at 11:43

Money For Youth.. you've soon changed your tune
Quote "If they gave more money to youth projects instead of wasting it on this rubbish the kids wouldn't have time to vandalize things like this."
As has already been said. YOU HAVE A BIG CHIP ON YOUR SHOULDER!!! You appear to be saying that because kids have 'Time on their Hands' that's an excuse for vandalism

Comment by: money for youth on 5th July 2013 at 12:07

Yes WIGANER I think in your little head what you have just said makes sense but I haven't got a clue what you are going on about, I hate vandalism as much as yourself I can't tolerate vandals.

Money for Youth. A simple question do you think the money spent on the park should have been spent elsewhere? After reading your comments you seem to be opposed for the council to spend any money unless it is on the young ones. What about the YOUTH ZONE???? The youth of today have more money spent on them than we had.

Comment by: Park Keeper on 5th July 2013 at 12:24

Money For Youth. Why do you think that replacing the Coalbrookdale Fountain is RUBBISH?

Comment by: money for youth on 5th July 2013 at 12:39

Not at all Park Keeper I just think the money could of been put to better use . This is only my opinion and everybody is entitled to have a opinion.

Comment by: Lizzie down under on 5th July 2013 at 12:45

Too much negativity.....it is summer....you have a beautiful park.....go out and enjoy it......how many young people can you see in the pic.....Cheers to you all!!!!

Comment by: Park Keeper on 5th July 2013 at 12:57

Yes everyone is entitled to an opinion I'm just curious to know what would you have spent the money on instead? The majority was funded by a lottery grant which you wouldn't have got for anything else. You appear to be overlooking completely the new YOUTH ZONE How much do you think that cost????? and that is only for a certain age group The park is available to all ages.

Comment by: George Formby on 5th July 2013 at 13:04

Money For Youth You say in one posting that the fountain is Rubbish and then in another you say it isn't! Make your mind up. Looks like your views are in a majority of one<g>

Lovely seen and thanks to Wigan council. Wiganer...you must be 90 years old, have you retired yet or a benifit cheat. get a life.

Comment by: money for youth on 5th July 2013 at 13:53

May I just put people straight I don't think the fountain is rubbish it just gets my back up when people are quick to put negativity on here .I've been blessed in making a career out of a sport I played when I was a youth ,if it wasn't for the older generation giving up there time for me when I was younger my life might of gone in another direction. This is why I give so much time to the younger generation today and hopefully guide them up the right path.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 7th July 2013 at 22:00

Jean: The fountain wasn`t there after 1921 lol.

Comment by: jcf on 10th July 2013 at 09:08

Ernest, It appears the Fountain structure was still there in the mid 30's. Evidence is shown in a photo in this weeks edition of the 'Wigan Observer'.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 12th July 2013 at 12:30

jcf; I`ve seen the photo in the Wigan Observer, but it`s date is yet to be proven

Comment by: Perkin Warbeck on 12th July 2013 at 22:28

Ernest,
I know the guy in the pram, Tom Siney, he's still knocking about and he's certainly not 92 years of age.
