What shape?

A beautiful modern building it sits in very nicely with surroundings.

It will be a great for the youth of Wigan, maybe even help to developed some future Wigan Olympians.

Smashing shot as usual, Dave, and a great record of the changing face of Wigan. After seeing how successful the Bolton Lads and Girls Club is I am pleased that Wigan's kids are getting a club of their own. It is a force for good.

this will be a great addition to the town replacing a little used open space frequented by alcos & smackheads
Well done to all concerned

I still don't see why they had to build here with so many empty prmeises not far away in the town centre.

Another green space gone for good, if the council could get away with building houses on menses park they would, what was wrong with converting the old police station for example

I agree with Al. C. It should have been built elsewhere. It is good that it will be of use but I still think that the grey one is an extrememly ugly building and would be more at home on an industrial estate. NO taste whatsoever.. it looks like a sardine can.

I saw this at night last week all lit up. It looked really good.

Nothing wrong with these buildings...
BUT, they could be any anonymous building, for whatever purpose, anywhere in the world. To me, they do not represent any of the character or individuality of Wigan! But that's just my humble opinion!

Won't mention anything about paving....:-)
Cheers!!!

How can a plain box be described as "beautiful"

It's like a mini Heinz warehouse!

Compare it with such as the old Tech, now the town hall...That's architectural beauty

The light coloured bit looks like a stack of shipping containers on a dock somewere, the brick part will always look unfinished to me.
