Spooky

Spooky
Spooky figure in Wigan Cemetery. I didn't see the figure whilst looking at the area or through the view finder. Only discovered it when I returned home.

Not a ghost of a chance of it being a ghost Bill. I think you have made a grave error - but we'll take it in the 'spirit' intended!

Comment by: Lizzie down under on 5th February 2013 at 00:21

Oooooooo......Bill that is a good subject for me as I am into all this stuff.....you sure someone didn't walk past at the last minute?
What about the face in the hedge behind the figure......I can see it.....cheers!!!

Comment by: Anon on 5th February 2013 at 06:27

Spooky figure??

Comment by: D. on 5th February 2013 at 08:12

I think there may be a simple explanation for the "spooky figure" a gravestone or tree trunk perhaps?

Comment by: Catherine on 5th February 2013 at 08:21

Comment by: Norman Skellon, Sydney , Australia on 5th February 2013 at 09:20

Janice, is there a ghost of a chance that you intended to raise the spectre of us being haunted by a plethora of supernatural puns??

Comment by: Pete on 5th February 2013 at 09:44

They could be aliens bill
You never know

Comment by: vic on 5th February 2013 at 10:24

Omg! i can see that face in the hedge, its skull like...eerie.

Comment by: Bill Eatock on 5th February 2013 at 10:51

It is odd. I definitely didn't see anyone in the area. The 'figure' appears to be walking along a path that's in that location.
Looks as if 'its' wearing a long black cloak of somekind. You can just make out a head, or a bonnet of somekind. I suppose a cemetey is just the right place for spooks!

Comment by: piccyme on 5th February 2013 at 11:11

Sorry, but i can not see any figure, what i do see is a lovely piccy, giving me a brrrrrrr feeling, bit like the bits we're getting again today

Comment by: tricia on 5th February 2013 at 11:30

EEEEEK! I can see the face as well , Lizzie. It has a slight look of one of my dogs!

Comment by: Eddie on 5th February 2013 at 12:39

Piccyme. I can see it very clearly. The figure is near the small cross. If you look carefully you can actually see what appears to be a leg pushing the cloak forward. Obviously it can't move in a still photo, but there is an hint of movement near the bottom of the figure. I zoomed into the photo and it is a figure of somekind.

Comment by: LindaWarrior on 5th February 2013 at 15:26

Ooo very spooky!
Lizzie, I can see the face too in the bushes. It looks a bit like ET!
Good pic, Bill

Comment by: Janice on 5th February 2013 at 16:20

Norman, without a shadow of a doubt (deathly silence)! Shall we bury this now as I think perhaps we have done it to death. Let's see what tomorrow mourning may bring! (Perhaps sneezin and coffin after all this cold weather)?

Comment by: Derek Platt on 5th February 2013 at 17:16

The place is crowded with characters. I see the person walking, and the skull-like head, but what about the person with the dog behind the tree branches-left foreground.

Comment by: Lizzie down under on 5th February 2013 at 18:20

A very spooky picture indeed......
Janice.....very clever.....harks back to Rev. David's woodpile pic where we all went to town.....and the tears of laughter were in copious amounts......cheers!!!

Comment by: Lizzie down under on 5th February 2013 at 18:26

Bill may I take a copy....I will start up a new album for spooky photos.....cheers!!!

Comment by: Neil Rigby on 5th February 2013 at 19:48

Spook with eyes, nose and down-turned mouth, between the fork of the tree (near the top) above the man-with-the-dog

Comment by: Neil Rigby on 5th February 2013 at 20:13

I think we should be more serious about the photo; after-all death is a grave matter.

Comment by: Lizzie down under on 5th February 2013 at 21:12

Yes......see it Neil.....the face in the fork of the tree seems to be looking to the right as I look at it....there is another face of an old man in the twiggy fork looking to the left....he has a beard he is in the fork with the snow at the bottom of it and his mouth is open.....ooooooo......we see dead people.....chchcheeeers!!!!

Comment by: Ellen on 5th February 2013 at 21:21

Sorry, folks but I think we see what we want to see !!

Comment by: snoopy on 5th February 2013 at 21:47

its a tree trunk!

Comment by: Jean F (Wales) on 5th February 2013 at 22:36

We all see what we want to see and this has been the best photo feedback for a long time....thanks for all the humour.....especially from Janice.

Comment by: Bill Eatock on 6th February 2013 at 08:56

Lizzie down under. By all means take a copy.
I'd love to see that album one day!

Comment by: Lizzie down under on 6th February 2013 at 09:17

The old man in the twiggy fork has a beard, and his mouth is open and it looks as if he is wearing a crown when I stretch the pic on my IPad .....ccchhheeeerrrrssss!!!!!

Comment by: Lizzie down under on 6th February 2013 at 10:24

Thanks Bill.....got yours and the one from January the 2nd in my spooky album....cheers!!

Comment by: Norman Skellon, Sydney, Australia on 7th February 2013 at 09:47

Janice: a wonderful reply.
Do you have a ghost writer???

Comment by: Gary on 21st March 2013 at 10:11

Tree trunk, snoopy? Its obvious its a cloaked figure of somekind. Even I can see that with my ancient eyes! I can also see a foot pushing the cloak forwards as 'it' walks.
Weird.

Comment by: Lynne on 22nd May 2025 at 10:11

I can see the figure clearly. For those who can't - Specsavers? As another posted pointed out, it does look like the figure is walking as "it" is kicking the lower part of the cloak as one would do wearing something so long. Very interesting - and spooky!
