Pennington Flash

Pennington Flash
Pennington Flash taken from the Sailing Club side. Hard to believe that this lovely Nature reserve has been created from mining subsidence.

Lovely photo. Wish I was there. Not too hard to believe Janice, when you have worked underground you see all the subsidence from a different perspective.

What a lovely picture, so green, hard to believe that it is created by mining subsidence!!!! Lovely Janice, cheers!!

A very peaceful scene, Janice. Photo can`t be recent, as no autumn tints? At first glance, the water in the gap between the trees, looks like a waterfall!
For Ken (comment yesterday at 15:30), this is in Leigh. For info on Pennington Flash see my comment on P-a-D 30th Sept.`12.

This photo is short of a duck, swan, man in a boat.

Taken around mid September Ernest. Can see what you mean about the waterfall! Mick, don't wish to be rude but your constant negativity (attempts at sarcasm?)are becoming boring I am afraid.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 9th November 2012 at 10:23

Thanks Janice, if you look from a short distance away, the `waterfall`is more prominent.

Comment by: Gareth on 9th November 2012 at 10:28

I go around that part often in the Summer and the trees in the distance are on what was a landfill ( or tip ) and shows what you can achieve if you try !

Very nice Janice, you wouldn't think when you walk round Pennington flash you were only a short distance from Leigh town centre.

I can definately see what you mean Ernest. Even if you look directly at the water between the trees, it looks like a wide waterfall. It's a strange optical illusion.
Nice photo Janice!

Ernest your right the water in the middle of the photo looks lower well spotted I wonder whats making it look like that.
