Crossed that foot bridge many times going to Tesco. Always young ones drinking underthere with empty cans and bottles every where.

Years ago when I was at the old Wigan Girls High School, on the day we left for good, a number of us threw our school hats inso the Dougie not far from there.

the sourse of the river douglas is at winter hill , it flows for 35 miles into the ribble estuary.

I remember when this river stank: should know I lived near it as a child! Learned at school: only blood worm would live in it and, rats around it! Was banned as kids going anywhere near it!!! The summer stench: awful!!!!
However, what a good sign to see it being restored!!! Never know: might get salmon in the river again!!! I was told that by an old geography teacher. I never knew if I believed him!!!!
