River Douglas
Crossed that foot bridge many times going to Tesco. Always young ones drinking underthere with empty cans and bottles every where.
Excellent photo Brian good clear shot
Years ago when I was at the old Wigan Girls High School, on the day we left for good, a number of us threw our school hats inso the Dougie not far from there.
Interesting shot Brian,I often wonder what rivers once looked like without their man made banks.
Mags - do you know what that building is used for now?
the sourse of the river douglas is at winter hill , it flows for 35 miles into the ribble estuary.
I remember when this river stank: should know I lived near it as a child! Learned at school: only blood worm would live in it and, rats around it! Was banned as kids going anywhere near it!!! The summer stench: awful!!!!
However, what a good sign to see it being restored!!! Never know: might get salmon in the river again!!! I was told that by an old geography teacher. I never knew if I believed him!!!!
