Well taken. The mistle thrushes which have been around our garden all winter have gone off to nest elsewhere, I hope. Their efforts to nest nearby in the past were doomed from the start.
They chose, as here, a cleft in a tree before any leaves had come on the branches. It was easily spotted by the magpies... who just waited until there was a meal of young birds to be had.... It was very sad to watch.
I hope they've found a more secluded spot for this year's attempt.
