Photo-a-Day (Tuesday, 8th June, 2010)
I've lived in Canada too long. Is rape what we would call canola. It looks very similar.By the way great photo.
It is indeed what you would call canola.
We call it koolzaad here (never knew the English name until I saw it on WW). When we first lived in the polder before they'd done much building our house faced fields of it, absolutely beautiful!
I remember in the 1980's & '90's Beekeepers would move their hives into the Rape fields, they would get plenty of honey and the farmers would get plenty of set Rapeseeds ensuring a good yield of oil. Don't know if any still do it now.
This looks so tranquil. A truly wonderful photo. Well done Mick.
Brassica napus, is the latin name for rapeseed
Great pic but makes me sneeze.
I like this photograph very much it would make a lovely painting
