Haigh Hall? Looks more like a drug den!

I suppose you don't pay to see the derelict state of the place ?
Come on Wigan Borough Council you are losing money here, learn from other places...people will always pay to see history...by the way is there a street/row/alley where you can still see where miners/weavers lived that has been preserved ? I won't hold my breath for the answer.

I've seen all the upstairs floors, remember all the pics of Winstanly Hall and the terrible state it is in.. The parts of Haigh Hall the public doesn't get to see is just as bad if not worse... There is so much that could be done to H H to make it into a real gem if Wigan Council would get their heads out of wherever it is they are..

Helen, no I don't know the answer..

Money making schemes come to mind, civil weddings, receptions, functions, seminars, dinners, anything you like that needs a grand house & gardens...still I expect WBC can just as easily find something else to demolish & then spend a million or so building a.... state of the art venue... No vision at all.

its a dam shame!
That was one reason me and my wife didnt get married at H H. If WBC got there act together made it into a hotel for guest on the wedding day. Didnt think it was so bad tho!
Any more pic Tony?

Typical of Wigan MBC - So many towns in the South protect their history and we have this!!!!
Come on Counsellers, get your finger out and stop erecting stupid statues and repair our heritage.

Wigan Council do not own Haigh Hall.

Vent your spleens at Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust.

I shudder to think of the number of times in the past 20 years I've made remarks about "The way North Americans rush to demolish perfectly good buildings in order to rebuild"!! Well, I certainly got my comeuppance in the past two months of looking at photoaday!Allowing places like H.H. and winstanley to deteriorate like this is nothing short of criminal;one hopes that those responsible will pay,in this world or the next;but then, they never seem to!

Shame on the trustees of the building.
