Photo is fine Brian but the building sticks out like a sore thumb, really out of character with the area.

Modern Wigan looks very nice and it looks like you have caught a pizza delivery boy on his scooter going past.

HAVE HEARD THEY ARE 'DEAD GOOD' !!!!

Comment by: David on 7th November 2009 at 10:37

I haven't lived in Wigan for some years. I'm trying to place this spot!

Comment by: BREN on 7th November 2009 at 11:55

It used to be MIDDELTON AND WOODS.Just before you get to The Pier nightclub.

Comment by: M.O.T. on 7th November 2009 at 14:44

Thanks for the info BREN I never would have guessed it was there.

What an eyesore!

I think a bit of red brick would have worked wonders !

What is this countrywide fasination with royal blue & it would have been better if the architects had have taken other buildings into consideration... well whats left standing of course...... still if the pizzas are good.......

Have heard it's haunted !! pizza's deliver themselves !!!! no wonder there are so many ufo sightings over Wigan lately !!

Comment by: Keith Guest on 7th November 2009 at 20:57

I believe the architect was recently savaged to death by his guide dog.

Comment by: Tony Haslam on 7th November 2009 at 21:08

Looks like its made of Dominoes and all double blanks.

I say it is bright and cheerful . Two prisoners looked through the prison bars .One saw mud ,the other saw stars.

Comment by: gee h on 8th November 2009 at 13:00

Well said Ron D !! It not at all bad looking.

As it used to be a very revered Funeral Parlour, maybe upstairs is reserved for the Wigan Councillors who have destroyed the character of Wigan over the last 40 odd years?

Comment by: Sheda (Singapore) on 9th November 2009 at 06:30

Can anyone tell me what's upstairs? Residential, offices, etc?

Comment by: Alan J on 9th November 2009 at 11:06

Do they serve spirits,

Comment by: David on 12th November 2009 at 15:50

Is it where Egerton House used to be?

Comment by: bren on 13th November 2009 at 19:13

yes david, the chapel of rest was there. GOD REST IN PIZZA !!!!

Comment by: Carol on 15th November 2009 at 13:30

It looks awful! How on earth did this facade get approved! The 'Wigan Pier Quarter' suggests it is historical connections, or at least sympathy with it's surroundings.

Comment by: hazmarcon on 21st November 2009 at 16:55

It's horrible none of it fits in with Trencherfield Mill

I was born right there. 1 Egerton Street.
May 1945.
